| SMS Xprez Enterprise
Version 3.50 |
 |
| Feature highlights
of the latest version |
| SMS Xprez Enterprise
3.50 is now here with a host of new
features and enhancements to take the
messaging platform leaps ahead. Real-life
user feedbacks, continual improvement
plans from internal departments and
changing business needs guided the enhancements
in this version. Read the brief about
them below. |
| 1. Auto table
creation |
| SMS Xprez Enterprise
now, not only detects whether a database
contains the required tables, it can
create all the necessary tables on its
own if not already created, on confirmation
from the user. Previously the tables
could have been created only by the
DBA by running the supplied scripts. |
| 2. Auto version
upgrade |
| The long awaited auto-version
upgrade feature is finally there. When
connected to a database with data from
older versions of SMS Xprez, the system
automatically warns the user about version
inconsistency between the application
and the data. On confirmation from the
user, it can automatically upgrade the
older version data to one that is compatible
with the current application version.
The cut-off version of SMS Xprez from
which upgrade is possible is v 3.0 |
| 3. Jobs |
| Nothing could have made
integration processes simpler. Jobs
in SMS Xprez are services that can check
a third party data store e.g. databases
and specially formatted text files and
fetch messages from there. With a wide
number of configurable parameters, Jobs
support all three major databases (Oracle,
MySQL and SQL Server) with an easy-to-use
field mapping utility and specially
formatted text files. |
| 4. Increased
characters per message |
| With this new version,
you can now stretch your messages to
an additional 10 characters per message
taking the maximum message length 160
per message. Previous versions reserved
10 characters for its internal use,
which is now freed for the benefit of
the user. The total concatenated message
length remains 450 characters for non-Unicode
messages and 196 characters for Unicode
messages. This has not been changed
for compatibility reasons. |
| 5. Incoming
long message handling |
| SMS Xprez can now concatenate
a chain of incoming long messages automatically
and show them as a single message. |
| 6. Message
templates |
| You can now store frequently
used messages as templates and load
them as necessary from the message composer
screen. Manage your templates efficiently
by naming them and storing them in separate
folders. |
| 7. User level
credit management |
| Gain control of your
Account usage by setting message credit
limits for users. Assign limits, reset
credits or set unlimited credits for
each individual user. |
| 8. User level
‘Sender Address’ management |
| Allow users to select
their own Sender Address that is displayed
on the recipient’s mobile. Control
access rights to this feature from the
User configuration module. |
| 9. Contact
groups management made simpler |
| By consolidating group
properties and group member addition
to a single screen, defining a contact
group is now simpler than ever. It also
enhances performance while creating
contact groups containing thousands
of contacts. |
| 10. Show
contact names in Report |
| If messages are sent
to or received from mobile numbers that
are defined in Shared Address book,
then the Report can optionally show
the contact names instead of mobile
numbers. This has been kept optional
to boost report performance where viewing
names are not necessary. |
| 11. View
message detail in a separate window
from Report |
| No need to drag a column
slider to view a message in the report
list. Double clicking on a particular
message in the Report opens the message
in a separate, easy to view window for
better readability. |
| 12. Refresh
report data from View screen itself |
| Don’t go back to
the Report options window and re-run
the report for refreshing the data.
A ‘Refresh’ button has been
provided in the list window itself to
reflect any newly received or sent messages. |
| 13. Report
filter on both recipient and sender
numbers / addresses |
| Filters are now available
on recipient and sender numbers for
both incoming and outgoing messages. |
| 14. Consistent
look, feel and functionality |
| Report and Purge old
data modules have been made similar,
visually and functionally for ease of
use and understanding. |
| 15. Manage
user rights from Accounts module itself |
| Grant or revoke rights
to users for a particular account from
the account configuration module itself.
Doubles up as a quick view to find which
users are given rights to a particular
account. |
| 16. Enhanced
security for SQL Server databases |
| SMS Xprez now allows
configuring a port for SQL Server connections.
This ensures better security and compatibility
with SQL server installations running
on a port different than the default
port 1433 |
